Oh, look – another glorious October! It makes me wonder where the year has gone. We are just a few months away from 2023, which means there are big things in the works. In the meantime, readers can consume another issue of DERMASCOPE – but stay tuned.  

October is all about acne! Whether dealing with teenage acne, stress-induced blemishes, or the occasional comedone, this issue has got readers covered. In addition to all the acne education, be sure to check out the exclusive article on the beauty and eyelash market, written by celebrity makeup artist Nydia Figueroa.  

This issue’s roundup of primary articles begins with “Out of Sight,” an article written by DERMASCOPE Ambassador, Michelle Robertson. This editorial looks at the invisible effects acne can have on clients – emotional trauma and how skin care professionals can offer empathy and positivity in a time of stress and low confidence.  

Shifting the acne focus to reflect whole-body therapies, the second primary is written by lead in-house aesthetician and The Aesthetic Report co-host, Elizabeth Brasher. “The Big Picture” covers holistic dermatologic practices and how this school of thought can be integrated into a skin care professional’s existing acne treatment approach.

From base ingredients to specialty ingredients, learn what it means to know a product inside and out.  

The last article for this lineup is from 2022 editorial advisory board member, Beatrice Van. Although homecare is the ticket to long-term success when it comes to skin health, supporting acne clients in the treatment room may be the answer to getting them to commit. Discover the in-spa possibilities for treatment plans that work with the article “In-Spa Acne.” 

Acne is one of the skin conditions that leaves clients desperate for answers, especially in the face-tuned social media climate we live in today.
