Glytone AHA Resurfacing Cellular Booster

Glytone AHA Resurfacing Cellular Booster
Text By Gina Thompson, LE, Associate Director of Training & Education Pierre Fabre USA

As a skin care professional, how many of your clients routinely ask for brighter, glowing, more radiant skin? How many of those clients would like to receive these benefits immediately, preferably with as little downtime as possible? In my experience, it’s often that immediate, glowing results performed quickly and without interruption to their regularly scheduled day are the most requested item on the aesthetic menu. Fortunately, with treatments like hydro dermabrasion, their wish can be our command!
Hydro dermabrasion treatments are widely used in spa, wellness, and medical facilities across the country. The HydraFacial brand boasts, “3 steps to the best skin of your life” an enticing message, with a system that delivers in less than thirty minutes. The basic 3 steps – cleanse, extract, and hydrate – takes on a whole new meaning when powered by hydro dermabrasion. This innovative technology harnesses the power of water, dermabrasion, and ingredient science to address unwanted signs of aging and acne-prone skin, it can also minimize hyperpigmentation, restore dry, dull skin, and preserve skin health.
As a hydro dermabrasion technician myself, I appreciate the efficiency and flexibility of this type of device, not only as a stand-alone procedure to address the above mentioned skin concerns, but also as an integral component of a comprehensive skin health plan. Regardless of age or specific skin concern, most individuals can benefit in some way. At minimum, my clients remark about how fresh, clean, hydrated, and radiant their skin feels the moment the process is complete. Given the time it can take to adequately address various skin issues – often weeks or months – the ability to make clients happy in a single visit is remarkable.
Hydro dermabrasion treatments are ideal for clients who seek zero downtime, simply want to “glow and go,” or for those who are apprehensive about aesthetic treatments. Generally, it’s clients who are worried about redness, peeling, irritation, or other side effects often affiliated with chemical peels, microneedling or laser and light therapy. Even in circumstances when a planned skin care procedure like a chemical peel for example, is not feasible that day, pivoting to a less invasive modality, like hydro dermabrasion is a perfect solution.
Since skin care regimens and treatments are never “one size fits all,” the ability to customize hydro dermabrasion procedures are enticing for both the client and the technician. Companies, like HydraFacial, offer additional modalities, like LED and lymphatic drainage to elevate the standard procedure. Beyond these modalities, HydraFacial has created their own branded booster serums and has also partnered with many reputable skin care companies to further brighten, calm, firm, restore, hydrate, smooth and refine the skin.
Glytone is one such company that has recently formulated a rejuvenating booster serum to enhance a signature HydraFacial treatment. The key ingredients in the AHA Resurfacing Cellular Booster are Mandelic, Lactic, and Polyhydroxy Acids, Mocur Meihei and Moringa Seed Extract, along with Beta Glucan to “step up” the hydro dermabrasion experience without additional irritation.
Mandelic acid, derived from bitter almonds, has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that are ideal for breakout prone and red, reactive skin types. Lactic acid, that originates from milk, stimulates cell renewal and collagen production, while also improving skin’s Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF). Polyhydroxy acids or PHAs, which have a slightly larger molecular size than AHAs for slower absorption into the skin, can reduce visible signs of aging, like fine lines and wrinkles, with even less sensation than their AHA counterparts. The synergistic blend of these alpha and poly hydroxy acids gently resurfaces the skin for a more even skin tone and texture.
Mucor Miehei, an enzyme derived from the Japanese Mucor Miehei mushroom, works by mimicking the natural enzymes present in the skin. It enhances cellular turnover without damage to the skin's barrier and can reduce visible skin scaling and dryness while improving skin firmness and texture concerns. Additionally, Moringa Seed Extract, which contains numerous antioxidants, like quercetin, vitamins A, C, & E promotes a calming effect on the skin due to the blend of amino acids and plant sterols. This fatty acid, which is very skin-compatible, also increases hydration by replenishing the skin’s natural oil barrier. Finally, Beta Glucan, a polysaccharide that originates from oats, grains & yeast, possesses biological properties for anti-inflammatory and wound healing benefits – excellent for soothing irritation, increasing skin hydration, reducing visible redness, and decreasing signs of skin sensitivity.
The Glytone AHA Resurfacing Cellular Booster when powered by HydraFacial technology can address skin tone, texture and laxity, pre-mature aging concerns, and dehydrated, inflamed, reactive skin. This one simple step, that fits in immediately after extractions and before the final hydration step, can easily, beautifully, and dramatically enhance the results of a signature HydraFacial treatment. It is possible to set your skin back to gorgeous! Although a single treatment can positively impact skin appearance, a series of treatments, between 3 and 6, every 4 weeks is recommended for best results.

In addition, she serves as DERMASCOPE’s lead in-house aesthetician and co-hosts The Aesthetic Report podcast.

Why is Revision Skincare your ultimate go-to, and how has it helped you become one of the best professionals in the industry?
Revision Skincare utilizes the best possible ingredients mixed with no-nonsense packaging which makes me trust what I am going to get.

Why did you choose Revision Skincare, and how did you find out about them?
Coming into a medical aesthetics space, I ran into many overpriced, underperforming products. Once we tried Revision, we knew they met our need for quality products and education. Also, their privately owned laboratory is local, and their facilities are available to tour.

How do you stay educated with this brand?
Revision’s representatives are well-versed, educated, and speak directly to the brand’s formulators, making them able to provide accurate information. Clinical data is always impressive. They also hold events for product launches and combination protocols, boosting their performance.

What benefits do your clients see from using Revision Skincare products?
The straight-forward approach makes the routine less overwhelming, even for the newest skin care user. They feel the difference in quality immediately. The cost is attainable, so they can keep up with the results long-term.

How do you promote yourself and the brand?
In-spa, we utilize in the brand in the treatment room and build out a custom routine to work on at home, making clients come back for more. And, of course, there is always social media.

Besides working with the brand, what else has helped you become one of the best?
My focus on education extends beyond just learning protocols. I make sure I am well versed in everything I do (and even some things I do not offer). My clients see me as a go-to resource for skin health and well-being.

What is your educational background, and how do you continue your education in the industry?
I am a wannabe graphic designer turned aesthetician. I love creativity, expression, and making an impact.

How long have you been practicing, and why did you choose this field?
12 years and counting! I love getting to lead a client from start to finish. Often, creating an approach to a particular skin goal is like hunting down the clues in a client’s skin and health to find answers.

How do you give back to the industry or community?
I often answer questions on professional forums, admin the Texas (A)esthetician Circle Facebook group, perform live interviews with industry leaders, present webinars, give lectures, and later this year, I will launch my first fundamentals minicourse.

Good Spa Vibes Only

In this day and age, everyone is running around with barely any time to relax. Going to the spa is a perfect way for someone constantly on the go to finally stop and relax. Relaxation should be a part of the client experience from beginning to end. Employing these elements of relaxation can bring peace to any spa space.

LIGHT IT UP

Lighting is a big part of creating a relaxing environment. Choosing the right light bulb is just as important as the warmth of the lighting. Fluorescent lights are typically not recommended for a spa setting. Fluorescent lights flicker at a rate that stresses out the brain and can zap employees’ energy. Additionally, avoid using spiral, compact fluorescent bulbs that are filled with mercury because if they break, mercury dust could possibly be in the air for days, wreaking havoc on all the lungs that pass through.

More to Live For

The irony is not wasted on me as I write the mature skin issue’s publisher’s note year after year. As children, getting older means a rite of passage. As adults, getting older means more preventative measures. No one is excited when they finally become a candidate for a face-lift. That being said, being a woman of a certain age does not have the same old negative connotations it once did. People can now find the prime of their lives when they are in their 40s, 50s, and beyond.
In contrast, this issue is about getting wiser, not necessarily older. Beauty is sustainable at any age and can differ from person to person – youth is but a concept. This is an idea I hope catches on as quickly as neon lights have for treatment rooms.
While perusing this issue, leave behind preexisting notions of what getting older means for professionals and clients alike. This certainly does not mean having no choice but to wait for mother nature’s forces to wreak havoc – quite the contrary actually. It means that we are not those who came before us. We have more choices, freedom, and, most importantly, sincerity. Let the days pass because it only means more to live for. Cheers!
