The video game Happy Wheels is a zany trial racing game in which the player competes in a race utilizing a wide variety of bizarre automobiles. It should come as no surprise that none of these cars is in any way designed to compete in races held over rough terrain. As soon as players find themselves navigating the different perilous hazards on the route, it will become clearly evident that they are not constructed for speed or balance. The objective of the game is to reach the end zone without being killed in a particularly horrific incident on the way there. Nevertheless, causing as much mayhem as possible on the racing circuits is likely to be an even more enjoyable experience than actually winning the race.

Players are able to roll the character they have picked as quickly as they can over the uneven terrain. Accidents and falls will cause a character's health bar, which is represented as a bar at the bottom of the screen, to get depleted. If the character's health bar runs dry before they reach the end of the level, the player will lose control of their character and the game will end.
