Summer Bummer: Stress Breakouts

Written by

If a client’s skin has the tendency to breakout come summer, they are not alone. Many tend to break out in the summertime because the hot, humid weather means more sweating and oil accumulation on the skin, which clogs pores. Ultimately, this gives acne more of a chance to form, and when breakouts start to form, clients will react.

Clients may turn to quick drugstore solutions during the panic of a summer breakout and try to eradicate the breakout on their own. This often causes a bigger issue and increases the irritation instead of clearing the breakout. While skin care professionals can lecture acne-prone clients to keep their skin clean, toned, and moisturized with an oil-free moisturizer, adding a mineral SPF and wearing less makeup is not enough. Clients can easily overreact by over exfoliating or overusing charcoal and clay masks which dries out their skin. Acne clients prefer to have tools on-hand to treat their breakout, especially during the busy summer season of pool and beach days. It is wise for a skin care practice to have tools they can offer in their retail inventory for their clients to purchase before a busy summer season versus leaving them to their own devices. Let’s explore some tools that can be great accessory products for a spa.
