When my mother and aunt were diagnosed with breast cancer and ovarian cancer, respectively, and as I watched my children grow, I became increasingly concerned with the contaminates implicated in the health issues my family was facing and to which my children were being put at risk.
I felt drawn to do something to encourage and support sound choices for our health and environment. As the time came when my daughter, Sara, began to experiment with makeup, I started experimenting on my own, seeking an alternative to the harmful chemicals and preservatives that my daughter was exposed to from conventional cosmetics.
I did not want to just create natural makeup; I wanted to create interesting, natural makeup – an alternative to the neutrals and browns that characterized natural makeup at the time. We were looking for rich, vibrant colors that allowed women to safely represent and express themselves.
Rather than using ingredients that can ultimately cause damage, professionals should look for products that are created with pure minerals and botanical ingredients that actually help support the health of the skin. With fewer ingredients and additives, skin is able to breathe.
