If clients want to roll out of bed looking artistically contoured, they should consider strategic eyelash placement to create the illusion of slimmer, fuller, shorter, longer, or more balanced facial proportions.
Many professionals may be wondering how a few little fibers can have such an impact on the appearance of the bone structure. Studies show that people look at the eyes four times more often than they look at the lips or other areas of the face. If clients want to create an impact, it is wise to start with the eyes.
How It Works
Eyelash extensions create strong vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines that greatly influence the appearance of facial shapes. This concept is similar to horizontal stripes on clothing making a body look wider, while solid, slim-fitting, black clothing worn with high heels make a body appear more slender. Long, narrow faces (think Sarah Jessica Parker) can greatly benefit from a side-swept, horizontal, cat-like eyelash line with long extensions concentrated on the outer corners of the eye.
For wider, round, square, or short faces (such as Ginnifer Goodwin and Mila Kunis), the goal is to add vertical lines with long extensions in the center of the eyelash line. This look draws viewers’ eyes up and down, thus slimming and lengthening the face.
Heart and diamond shaped bone structure (similar to Scarlett Johansson and Serena Williams) look great with a fairly-uniform pattern across the eyelash line.
Lastly, clients blessed with a balanced oval shape have the most options and can focus solely on enhancing the shape of the eyes themselves.
