We have all watched the world around us do a total 360 in the last several years. As a thirty plus year business owner, I can tell you that as much as things change, they also stay the same. When it comes to business strategies, there are a few that have never changed and will always guarantee business success.
First, and probably most importantly: you must love what you do and be committed to it. The worse possible reason to go into business is for money or because someone told you it was the thing to do. If your heart is not in it, your chances of success are slim.
Second, make decisions based on your own research. By all means, ask for advice and for other people’s experiences and ideas, but do not make your own decisions simply because someone else said so.
Third, go with your gut in every and all instances. Always follow your gut instinct. I have never met a person that said, “I should have never followed my gut.” Never!
Fourth, believe in yourself. You do not need others to believe in you to succeed. As long as you believe in yourself, you can do anything.
Lastly, understand that you do not have to have all the answers. What you do need to know is what you want to deliver or achieve. When a clear end game is in sight, the path to get there will light the way. Will you fall off track every so often? Of course, but it is the stumble in the long walk that makes you stronger.
