Many parents assume that breakouts are just an inevitable fact of life – something all teenagers and even pre-teens go through sooner or later. While it is true that millions of people (even as young as 9 years old) suffer from acne, it does not make it any easier on them, or you. The good news is that acne can be treated effectively by a health care professional. Galderma Laboratories, L.P. recently received approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for their Epiduo® (adapalene 0.1%/BPO 2.5%) Gel, a product used to treat acne in children as young as 9 years old. At age 70, I have to be consistent. During my morning shower, I like to cleanse my skin with a deep pore cleanser, shave, and apply a fiberblast C powder to the areas of my face and neck that need collagen support. Today, however, due to the advent of increasingly sophisticated skin care formulations, advanced aesthetic treatments, and a growing reliance on plastic surgery, the bar has been raised. Skin is supposed to look flawless. Read More

I never go to bed wearing eye makeup. No matter how tired I am, I always use an eye makeup remover. The reason is that this specialized product is made to dissolve color pigments in the shadows and loosen mascara. Using a facial cleanser to rub off eye makeup can cause irritation and, even worse, you can run the risk of getting ingredients like glycolic acid in your eyes. Of course, the next step is cleansing and moisturizing, but here is my second trade secret: serums. The key is choosing the right serum at the right time. Serums containing glycolic, retinol and lightening agents should be used at night because they are sun-sensitive. Read More
