I
can honestly say I have never worked on a more daunting issue than the one you
hold in your hands today! More specifically the 30th Anniversary section (pages
35-50), which we began working on many months ago. As Will said in his Publisher’s
Note, there was so much more information that we considered and wanted to include,
but in the end decided to be conservative. I hope that you will enjoy reading
it as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

Despite my numerous attempts to delegate the writing of this piece to someone
else, I am extremely glad that they never worked out. If not for my two year
baby hiatus, I would have been with the magazine for one-third of its history
this coming January. Yet, I am amazed at all this project has taught me about
this industry, the people involved, why they became involved, and the amount
of passion they felt.

With all that being said, there is more to this issue than just the 30th Anniversary.
We are talking about Drugs and Contraindications, Reading Labels, and Fall Make-up
Trends and Sales. Learn more about these topics in Myths and Truths About Skin
Care Products by
Sherina Jamal, What’s Really in Your Face Cream by Ameann DeJohn, Wow
and How of Ingredients for Skin of Color by Austine Mah, Fall MODness by Mary
Van, and Spa Music by Preethi Burkholder. Of course we also have our two wonderful
columnists Jane Wurwand, who we are so glad to have back from her break; and
Douglas Preston with some excellent tips to utilize in your make-up department!

Finally, I would like to say that I feel supremely blessed and honored to be
a part DERMASCOPE Magazine. I thank each of you for reading the magazine and
website, and sending us your ideas, comments, and criticism. Please continue
to send your feedback, it is always welcomed and appreciated. I would also like
to thank Will and Pat for allowing me to be here and more importantly for your
friendship! I look forward to many years to come, and reaching all of
our goals.Enjoy,

Saundra
