Technology and science have contributed to impressive advancements in Western medicine, pioneering prevention and treatment options for even the most complex diseases. In cosmetic surgery, specifically, minimally invasive techniques and improved methodology have allowed surgeons the ability to achieve new levels of aesthetic goals.

As medicine continues to evolve, it is important to take into consideration the whole person when treating a specific concern. By definition, integrative medicine seeks to achieve optimal health and healing for patients by treating the body, mind, and spirit. Utilizing natural remedies as opposed to pharmaceutical intervention has many benefits, many of which are highlighted by organizations like the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine (ABIHM). In 2014, the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine announced its expansion to become the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine, providing a unified voice for holistic and integrative healthcare providers dedicated to “shifting the nation from disease care to true health care, from sickness to wellness.”

This approach to healthcare is becoming a pillar for many practices and a priority for many patients. Due to the overwhelming benefits for both patients and practitioners, holistic healing combined with the latest technology is paramount for the future of medicine.
