Cosmetology and aesthetics students at the International Academy of Hair Design in Tempe, Ariz. are helping to bring hope to cancer patients through the outreach of Face in the Mirror, a 501c3 non-profit organization.

Aesthetics students attend the Face in the Mirror monthly “In Celebration of Life” teas, which are given at St. Joseph and Banner Good Samaritan Medical Centers. The students help assist in the free pampering and facial makeovers at the event. Complimentary maintenance of wigs has also been offered by the school to the organization, for the benefit of the patients.

“As educators of future cosmetologists and aestheticians we understand the significance of the psychological importance of healing and looking as good as possible – even when battling the after effects of cancer, chemotherapy, and radiation,” said Jessica Wolman, one of the owners of the Tempe cosmetology and aesthetics school.

Face in the Mirror was founded by Barbara MacLean in 2004 and is dedicated to the loving memory of her sister, Charlotte Mae McCracken who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2001.
