Fun, Sun, and Education: Miami Had It All!

Melissa-Lawrence 2016

Aesthetics International Association (AIA) has returned from the International Congress of Esthetics & Spa (ICES), in beautiful, downtown Miami. That’s right, ICES moved to the beautiful Hyatt Regency Hotel & James L. Knight Center.

Aside from the awesome new location, ICES also brought some interesting and innovative business and marketing conferences! In addition to the many skin and body lectures, were topics on social media, wellness, makeup, and customer care; these subjects were discussed aside from the main stage lectures and demonstrations, product focused training classes, and the hundreds of exhibitors that lined the tradeshow floor!

The producers of ICES have been providing cutting edge demonstrations and motivating talks for decades, but this event brought a fresh approach. General Session offered a wide array of topics with the passionate and always lively Michelle D’Allaird-Brenner as master of ceremonies. Both mornings started with EuGene Gant, a personal favorite of mine, who brought a unique perspective with his breathing and stretching demonstrations that started each day off with focused energy. We learned about treating hyperpigmentation, designer facials, the latest technologies for medical spas, and the new generation of peels. Other topics in the lineup included the future of skin care, facial resculpting, the new way to do business, and the secret of Kao No Rinpa – a Japanese lymphatic body treatment. There was an abundance of inspiration at the turn of every corner.

At each show I attend, I am constantly impressed with the level of passion and the desire for knowledge that AIA members exude. Our members are dedicated professionals and truly love what they do! There is nothing better than face-to-face conversations with longtime AIA members. It seems that the more knowledge is brought to the table, the more avenues spring up for us to explore innovation. I am very proud to be part of something so unique. Thank you for attending and for sharing your feedback.
