Most professionals have had acne clients who are consistent with their acne treatments and diligently follow their recommended homecare products and routines. Yet, no matter what is done, both the professional and the client feel frustrated because nothing seems to clear the client’s acne.  

It is time for professionals to look inside the body and realize that acne can be tied to diet. It is important for professionals to thoroughly understand the role nutrition plays in inflammation, the comparison of the Western diet to an anti-inflammatory diet, how inflammation affects acne in teenagers, adults, and mature clients, how to educate clients while staying within the scope of practice, and how to connect clients with dieticians or naturopathic doctors when it is becoming seemingly impossible to clear clients’ acne.
