Surprised… were you looking forward to seeing who was on this month’s cover? Well, your anticipation is going to have to build for a few more months. We are only inducting two Legends this year. However, there will be more in 2009. These covers and stories created quite the buzz. Since the July issue appeared we began receiving letters, e-mails, and phone calls about the Legends. How do you become a Legend? Who is eligible to be a Legend? Can I nominate someone to be a Legend? These are some of the many questions we have heard. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to address the topic as a whole. What is a Legend? According to my dictionary, The Oxford American Dictionary, the second definition says: an extremely famous or notorious person, esp. in a particular field. To be inducted into the “Academy of Legends” of AIA and DERMASCOPE Magazine, a person must meet the following criteria: All recipients must: These were the ideals and practices that the selection committee felt was most important when evaluating a person for consideration. So now that you know what criteria a candidate is measured by, let me answer some of the questions above. To become a Legend, you must first meet all the criteria above and then be nominated to the selection committee. Anyone who meets the criteria is eligible for nomination. Yes, you can nominate someone you feel is deserving by visiting either of our websites; www.dermascope.com or www.aiaprofessional.com. There you will find a list of who is in the “Academy of Legends” along with a nomination form to fill out. Thank you for all your letters, e-mails, and calls. We are thrilled by the response and love to hear from you especially when we do something new. So keep sending us your feedback – the more we have, the better we are able to meet your needs. Enjoy this months issue on exfoliation; the articles are by some of the industry’s best. Don’t miss the special breast cancer awareness section on page 29. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we want you to see in advance what a few companies in our industry are doing to join the battle against this disease. These were the companies that we were able to feature; we also encourage you to contact your own manufacturer or distributor and see if they are offering any promotions. Until next month,
