What is your educational background, and how do you continue your education in the industry?

I have a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and environmental policy from the University of Nevada as well as an international CIDESCO certification. I try to attend advanced training twice monthly.

How long have you been practicing, and why did you choose this field?

I have been practicing for a little over 15 years. I started this journey after struggling with teenage acne and getting help from an aesthetician after many years of trying different prescription medications to no avail. I am deeply passionate about helping my clients achieve glowing skin from the inside out and always take a holistic approach.

How long have you been in the beauty industry, and why did you choose to become a publicist?

Like many students pursuing an undergraduate degree, I did not have a clear understanding of what I wanted to be when I grew up. My parents envisioned broadcast journalism for me. However, after taking a few PR classes, I learned that many of the stories we read about everyday are orchestrated by strategic communications professionals who are making the magic happen behind the scenes, which is where I wanted to be. After graduating college, I immediately started my career in PR, and nearly 20 years later, I am still doing it. It is wild, and I can hardly believe it myself. However, as the saying goes, time flies when you are having fun!

What is your educational background, and how do you continue your education in the industry? 

My educational background includes medical aesthetics, spa marketing and retailing strategies, team leadership, and adult learning. I am also a master herbalist, and I continue my education in the industry through attending various seminars and training at tradeshows, as well as taking specialty courses in massage techniques, skin anatomy, medical spa modalities, and ingredient knowledge.
