Face to Face

I have to say how much I love this month’s theme, especially since I have been preaching it for months! It is happening all around us – minimizing social media and cell phone use and an increase in face-to-face meetings, lunches, dinners, and dates. Handshakes, eye contact, even hugs are back!

Our profession has also experienced a little shift – technology, growth, and invention have a way of doing that. The interesting thing is that the foundational practices have never swayed from being the bedrock of what we do. We touch, we listen, and we hold the ability to improve the way another human being looks and feels about themselves. To me, that is the most powerful job in the world.

The one thing that has changed is the degree to which our foundational practices are requested and needed. Individuals of all ages, sexes, and ethnicities desire to look and feel their best. They are seeking the means to achieve both inner and outer health, wellness, and beauty. As licensed professionals, each of these areas are a part of our knowledge, education, and expertise, and they each go hand in hand. What we see on the outside is a direct reflection of what is happening on the inside.

Read through the pages of this month’s issue. Grab hold of what you may have either set aside, forgotten about, or never known. Remember the power that you have in your profession, in your treatment room, and in the ability to help another individual smile at their reflection.
