Do you feel like there aren’t enough hours in the week to maintain your schedule, protect your personal life, and post consistently to social media? With all the tasks demanding our attention every day, posting to social media can be just another thing on the to-do list that constantly gets pushed to the wayside. Despite it being a tool that can be leveraged to attract new clients and build trust, it can seem overwhelming to post quality content. This is where creating a plan for content creation can be a game-changer for the busy skin professional.
CONTENT PILLARS
The first step is to decide what you want to post about! Choosing three to five themes or styles you want to drive your content will help you stay on track. For example, for the month of August, you can choose to make some posts about skin care tips, a few behind the scenes reels, and some content highlighting product education. From there, you can decide how much of each theme you’d like to post and what needs to be created. Having your guiding topics locked down helps throughout the content creation process and makes it easier to know what you need to make.
REVIEW ANALYTICS
Social media platforms make it easy nowadays to be your own marketing manager with straightforward tools to review your analytics right in the app interface. Keeping track of which posts are more successful and wide reaching will help refine your content strategy going forward. Understanding what your audience engages with will allow you to identify your strengths and which types of content you should prioritize in the future. Seeing which posts aren’t as engaging will help you pivot away from spending time on content that doesn’t connect. Check on views, impressions, follower count increases or decreases, and viewership from followers versus nonfollowers. There are many helpful videos on how the algorithms of any given platform work to help you understand which metrics are most important when it comes to expanding your reach and serving your content to more people.
BATCH CONTENT
Trying to stay on top of posting can be super difficult when you’re just waiting for time to appear on your calendar to get down to creating. A better strategy is to set aside time to create your posts, batching your content creation all at once. Set aside an hour a week to sit down on Canva or pull out the ring light to film. Go into your hour of content creation with a solid plan of what needs to get filmed or created. Don’t be afraid to block off your calendar to avoid appointment bookings encroaching on your content creation time.
CREATE A CALENDAR
Once you decide what you want to create and you have your content all ready to go, using a social media scheduling tool will take the majority of the work off your hands. Websites like Later, Buffer, and others allow you to schedule your content to post automatically when you want it to. Create a calendar that will tell you what posts need to go up on which days of the month and schedule all your content for that month in advance. You’ll just upload your images or videos, put in your pre-written caption and tags, and your post will go live on time without you lifting a finger! These platforms usually even tell you what time of day posts tend to do better to help you maximize your reach. If you want to avoid using a third-party tool, most social platforms have the ability to schedule your content right in their own app as well.
Creating a plan for your social content is invaluable when it comes to saving you time and energy during your busy schedule. Content creation doesn’t have to be a hassle or a time-suck if you go into it with a thoughtful strategy to maximize your efficiency and keep everything organized and on schedule!
