Acne in adolescents and depression are two common yet interconnected conditions that have a significant impact on both the physical and mental health of patients. Both have a profound impact on the psycho-emotional and social well-being of patients and their interaction requires thorough investigation to develop effective treatment strategies that address both the physical and psychological aspects of these disorders.

Acne is a dermatological disorder that develops because of dysfunction in the sebaceous glands, particularly due to hypersecretion of sebum. This condition predominantly manifests during adolescence and is accompanied by clinical signs such as rashes, inflammatory processes, and redness, localized on the face, back, and other areas of skin. Acne significantly affects the quality of life of patients, particularly due to cosmetic defects and emotional stress.
Depression, on the other hand, is a mental disorder characterized by a chronic feeling of sadness, reduced interest in usual activities, decreased energy levels, mood disturbances, and the inability to perform daily tasks. This condition has a wide range of symptoms, including loss of appetite, sleep disturbances, decreased concentration, and physical and emotional impairments, all of which significantly affect the social and professional functioning of the patient.
