The link between diet and skin health seems obvious but is still being debated by most Western medicine physicians. Like every organ in the body, skin relies on the consumption of critical nutrients including water, vitamin C, and other vitamins and minerals. However, the brilliant design of the body does allow for wide variations in food consumption while still maintaining its functions with relative ease. Does eating superfoods or using them in skin care provide a unique advantage? It is a question worth exploring.
Aging can be described as a failure of cells to replicate themselves while holding their original, optimal standards. The decline in cellular function and health is primarily caused by toxins, pathogens or emotions that affect DNA and other components of the cell. The theory of free radical damage being the primary factor in aging carries too much weight because it seems that 99.9% of free radicals are health promoting and the above-mentioned causes are the only reason that uncontrolled free radical damage occurs.
