Masking Up: Selecting the Best for Client Complexions

Masking has been one of my favorite self-care things to do since I was a young teen. I began my love affair with masks as an adolescent with a clay mint masque. I used it often and with great hope. I could feel the oil on my skin being sopped up. 

I loved horses and many of my hunt seat companions at the time used this goopy cream on their complexions, hands, and lips. I decided to give it a try. It wasn’t a cream at all but a thick gel-based petrolatum product. It was soothing. It was also comedogenic as all get out. In light of it being pore clogging, I used it with blissful abandon underneath the clay mint mask because it was deeply moisturizing. Even my higher self knew that the clay mint mask was too dehydrating due to an inferior quality of clay.
