Scientifically known as cannabidiol, CBD is a natural compound found in cannabis plants like hemp and marijuana. Together, CBD and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) make up the two primary active ingredients found in cannabis. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid and is also legal to purchase in its isolated form.
Using heat, CBD is extracted as a powder from stems, stalks, flowers, or leaves from cannabis plants and often mixed with various types of carrier oils to enhance the application and effectiveness (olive, hemp, and coconut oils). Other manufacturers may use alcohol to create CBD tinctures and other mediums.
