Inflammation

Written by

Inflammation is the result of several internal and external issues.

Inflammation presents physically on the skin in the form of acne, rosacea, and visible signs of aging.

Although inflammation may affect the appearance of the skin, it can be seen as a good thing as it is the body's way of defending itself from bacteria and viruses.

Common causes of inflammation include stress, unhealthy diet, lack of sleep, pollution, sun exposure and allergies.

PREVENTION

Keep stress levels at a minimum.

Get a good night's sleep, atleast seven to eight hours.
Avoid over-exfoliation and the excessive use of harsh acids.
Do not touch the skin with dirty hands or phones.

Exercise regularly.
Cleanse the skin with a mild cleanser after exercising.
Eat omega-3 and omega 6 fats, such as salmon and flaxseed oil, which contain anti-inflammatory compounds.
Consume antioxidant rich foods, like leafy greens, berries, and citrus, and stay away from oily and sugary foods.

Drink half of the body's weight in ounces of water daily.
Always wear the appropriate SPF.
