No food or diet can actually prevent breast cancer, but eating right can help keep the body as healthy as possible. Healthy foods boost the immune system and help maintain a healthy weight, lowering the risk of cancer. The following are 10 foods that can help fight and prevent breast cancer:

  • Almonds – They are a great source of monounsaturated fats that help prevent breast cancer as well as other typesof cancer.
  • Beans – Eating legumes twice a week can lower the rate of developing breast cancer.
  • Blueberries – They are a great source of antioxidants, including cancer-fighting chlorogenic acid.
  • Broccoli – They are rich in sulforaphane, a plant chemical that interferes with the growth of breast cancer cells.
  • Flaxseed – Eating two tablespoons of ground flaxseed a day can slow the rate of cancer-sell growth.
  • Garlic – Allyl sulfur and other substances in garlic slow the growth of tumor cells.
  • Green tea – It is an excellent source of catechins, which are potent antioxidants. If green tea is sipped daily, the risk of developing breast cancer decreases.
  • Mushrooms – Portobello, cremini, button, and shiitake mushrooms contain ergothioneine and selenium, which are immune-boosting antioxidants that can decrease the riskof cancer.
  • Spinach – It contains the powerful antioxidants betacarotene and lutein. If eaten at least twice a week, the risk of breast cancer decreases.
  • Salmon and Seafood - If 1.5 to 3 ounces of fish or shellfish are consumed daily, the risk of developing breast cancer decreases by 26 percent.
