What is Aesthetic Taping and How Does it Work

Written by   Nataly Wave

Aesthetic taping is a very interesting and affordable antiage therapeutical method. It is not a “magic patch”– it is physics and mathematics, where all the magic is in the skin care professional’s hands. Taping is an area of desmurgy referring to the elastic bandaging. Aesthetic taping mainly uses the kinesiological tapes that are the elastic cotton bands with a wave-like, hypoallergenic adhesive coating on one side. Such application is important so that the trophic skin properties are not disturbed. At the production stage, the tape with glue is applied to a paper substrate with a slight tension.

Aesthetic taping helps remove wrinkles, fight puffiness, and initialize the regeneration processes. The tape is used superficially and epidermally: while slightly lifting the epidermis, establishing more space, enhancing microcirculation in the soft tissues, and reducing pressure on the pain receptors; while shifting the epidermis, affecting the muscles and nervous system through the fascial connections; and while providing segmental effects (the trigger zones and biologically active points).

The scope of taping application is extensive, including physiotherapy, neurology, pediatrics, reflexology, and rehabilitation – not to mention cosmetology. Taping is perfect in that it can be combined with almost all aesthetic medical methods and it assists in rehabilitation after plastic, dental, and abdominal surgeries. Obviously, it is used in sports and body demonstrations, as an art object when a picture is created using the tapes. Applications are used not only for decoration, but also as a functional load. The tapes stimulate all processes, so the main contraindications are impaired skin and inflammatory and infectious processes. A very common question is what are the consequences of attaching the plaster? What is the difference? The difference is fundamental. The plaster is not stretchy; therefore, there is congestion and greenhouse instead of stimulation, since the continuous glue application disturbs the skin trophism. The objective is to improve nourishment, benefit the lymphatic system, and begin regeneration, such as the permanent micromassage, segmental effects, and easy regular peeling.

Prior to tape application, it is advisable to activate the processes that are desired to initiate, such as certain muscle relaxation, improvement of blood circulation and microcirculation in the soft tissues, and stimulation of biologically active points. The tape is a continuation of the skin care professional’s hands. The new tissue position is read by the fascia, helping the internal doctor and commencing the regeneration process.
