The Spa Guide: New Year Financial Forecasting & Goal Setting

As the fiscal year of skin care professionals and their businesses is coming to an end, they look forward to a new start with new metrics to meet. Through life’s challenges, professionals learn to adapt and change as industry leaders, and ultimately pivot in directions they never thought possible to create niche pockets of revenue streams and cater to clients in fresh and exciting ways. Skin care professionals inherently are creative beings; coming up with new ways to market your service offerings to clients, streamlining a content schedule, and developing events for the new year are easy to envision. The challenge comes in putting the overwhelming feelings aside and focusing on a plan of action. There are three categories for new year goal setting, event creation with budgets and financial goals in mind, creating new services while keeping profit margins at the forefront and expenses low, and planning for professional development in an organized and ethical manner.

For others, it can be a stressful ordeal because they want to look their best from head to toe. This puts a lot of pressure on clothing and makeup choices for the big night out.

This is not merely pandemic-related; it’s due to busy lifestyles, high stress, and unhealthy food habits.

Thinking of You

To end the year on a positive note, professionals can commit to reaching out to people that have been on their minds or that they have not been in touch with for a while. How Does Gratitude Show on Skin?

Did you know that counting blessings can show up on your face as a clearer, smoother, and more hydrated complexion? When you are healthy and happy, it shows on your skin. The idea behind this mindfulness is all in the psychology of how a person thinks. If your cup is full, friends and family can usually see it on your face, and it can rub off in a good way – a healthy, glowing complexion.

Gratitude is a powerful antidote for a negative mindset. Have you ever heard of the saying, “What you think about you bring about?” Mindfulness has been a buzzword for quite some time now and is a valid concept that has been proven to have a measurable effect on the function and vitality of skin. After all, skin is the largest organ of the body and truly a mirror of what is going on inside.

Daylight Detective: Finding the Right SPF

By now, everyone knows the importance of wearing daily sunscreen to protect skin from ultraviolet radiation that damages the melanocytes and accelerates the aging process. Yet, so many clients fail to wear sunscreen daily, whether they forgot to put it on, don’t like the way it feels, or supposedly applied it before they left their house. Since professionals are all educated about sunscreen, I want to focus on the differences in sunscreens, finding the right sun protection product, and educating clients as to why the must be wearing sunscreen every single day.

Digital Spaces: Connecting with Your Community

In this digital age, you can build a business online today and even network or connect with hundreds around the world all through a device. The opportunities and potential right now to build a business and an online presence are endless. It’s possible for anyone. A detrimental part to my growth as an entrepreneur and a huge part of my success as an aesthetician has been social media and most importantly, the community that comes with it.

It’s one thing to be post content, and it’s another to actually foster real genuine relationships from your content. You could be posting a hundred things on Instagram a day but if you’re not engaging, connecting, and building relationships, who’s going to take that next step and buy your product or service?

This not only allows them to appreciate their skills and accomplishments, but they can also implement this energy and spirit to their treatment room and help clients achieve even better skin care results. (Must be logged in and hold an active AIA membership to view video below.)
