Jabil Helps Candela Drive Double-Digit Business Growth

Candela delivers 11 new medical aesthetic devices in less than 18 months

Today, Jabil unveiled a collaboration with Candela, a leading global medical aesthetic device pioneer known for energy-based laser devices to treat conditions impacting quality of life, ranging from hair removal and wrinkle reduction to traumatic scarring involving wounded warriors and burn victims. With more than 700 patents and over 50,000 medical devices deployed worldwide, Candela’s rapid growth outpaced its manufacturing capacity and supply chain capabilities.

Enter Jabil Healthcare, the largest global manufacturing solutions provider in healthcare, with a strong track record of helping customers improve product safety, performance, sustainability and accessibility. Jabil’s extensive expertise in the medical device sector proved pivotal for consolidating Candela’s supply chain while rapidly ramping volume manufacturing.

Faced with aggressive timelines, Jabil Healthcare mobilized highly qualified teams to transfer manufacturing responsibilities while guiding innovations in process improvements, manufacturing best practices and quality. “Jabil brings a level of manufacturing expertise and external knowledge from multiple medical device worlds that increases our skills and capabilities exponentially,” said Geoff Crouse, Chief Executive Officer, Candela.

Together, Jabil and Candela ramped volume manufacturing, transferred complex capital equipment and met rigorous product quality requirements. As a result, in less than 18 months, Jabil Healthcare brought up production lines to produce 11 Candela products optimized for performance and quality. Additionally, Jabil’s global supply chain capabilities empower Candela to expedite product launches by ensuring a consistent and economical supply of core components.

To that end, Jabil continually mobilizes its procurement and supply sourcing experts to fortify the links in Candela’s overall supply chain. “Jabil’s supply chain management team identified suppliers who couldn’t match our ramp and capacity goals,” said Todd Van Horn, Chief Operating Officer, Candela. “They then found and qualified new ones to give us the strength and resilience to weather a challenging environment, which is absolutely critical.”

The result: A shared commitment to quality and process improvements is fueling double-digit business growth as Candela strives to become a billion-dollar business in the near future. “Through our partnership with Jabil, we can drive growth, support more customers and build more devices with improved quality,” said Mary Trout, Chief Commercial Officer, Candela.
