Your Worst Enemy… Chronic Inflammation

Written by A Natural Difference

A growing consensus within the scientific community is that common disorders are all caused in part by chronic inflammation or even re-occurring inflammatory lifestyles. Inflammation is the body’s natural defense against foreign invaders or infection. Most of the time inflammation is a lifesaver that enables our body to defend itself against various diseases, caused by bacteria, viruses and parasites.

If any of these potential microbes slip into the body or skin, the inflammation police attacks the invaders and the healing process begins. Such is the case when a skincare specialist administers a chemical peel which is high in acid and has a low pH. Inflammation occurs, the skin starts to heal itself and the rejuvenation process begins. These treatments done by trained estheticians take advantage of the body’s natural inflammation response.

Inflammation has become the hottest area of medical research for the body and skin.

Scientific research indicates that all inflammation, in both skin and body begins in the gut. Two thirds of the body’s defenses reside in the GI tract. Ideally they remain there in a healthy alert state just waiting for the chance to attack the next foreign invader.  However, a compromised digestive tract from diet and lifestyle can allow invaders to get through and starts the ball rolling down the path of inflammation. Throughout my years of skincare experience, I have always seen the “gut connection” in Acne and Rosacea cases. Our skin is more than a coating to cover bones and tissue. It is our armor against outside invaders and also reflects who we are by exposing our lifestyle, choices and eating habits.
