What do you see as an upcoming trend in the industry?

The dramatic use of at-home devices, rapid expansion of new technologies to enhance efficacy, many brands bypassing skin care professionals, and marketing direct to consumers, and more non-invasive procedures. I remain alarmed at the increasing presence of multi-level marketing and false claims on our industry.

Other than your products, what are the greatest assets and strengths your company offers?

No question – our team. Simply put, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It is all about being a family. Just ask our staff.

What advice do you have for someone planning to start a career in this field?

First, do your homework; be prepared to forgo a salary for a year or two if you want to be an owner. Also, never forget that you do not have all the answers; listen, listen, listen.

What is your biggest hope for the industry going forward?

Mandatory and high level professional education to elevate our profession. That the skin care industry finally recognizes the importance of the skin care professional in ensuring the “prescribing” of the right products for the individual. One size does not fit all.
