An Introduction to Sensitized Skin

Written by

American Academy of Dermatology reports that 50 percent of the United States population experience some form of sensitized skin.

Almost a quarter of facial skin care users are interested solely in products with natural, organic ingredients that are designed specifically for sensitive skin.

Clients should do a patch test before trying new products by dabbing a small amount of the product on their forearm, leaving it on overnight, and monitoring the spot in the morning for adverse effects.

Skin sensitivities can be triggered by several factors including the environment, harsh ingredients, and exfoliation.

Sensitized skin, unlike sensitive skin caused by conditions and disorders, can be controlled by maintaining a daily regimen that protects, benefits, and maintains healthy skin.
