Shankara Ayurveda Spa at the Art of Living Retreat Center is becoming one of the top Ayurvedic spas in North America. Based on a mountaintop outside Boone, N.C., Shankara Ayurveda Spa offers the opportunity to find inner peace and create personal transformation.

This spa is unique in that ancient Ayurveda principles are used to enhance the guest experience. Panchakarma is a retreat that is a signature offering. Untitled-5Led by a team of Ayurveda experts, the weeklong retreats are customized to each person and include more than 10 treatments, cooking demonstrations, yoga, meditation, organic meals, and take-home education. A shorter version of Panchakarma is offered over three nights through the Taste of PK; there is also a two-night Detox and Restore Package.
One of the most popular therapies in Ayurveda, Untitled-6Abhyanga is a holistic treatment meant to nourish the body with a healing touch and warmed herbal oil. The oil is rhythmically massaged into the body to loosen toxins and relax the nervous system. It also provides profound rest, nourishment, and rejuvenation. This balancing massage counteracts the imbalances that are often felt due to a hectic and stressful lifestyle and improper foods and food habits. $110 for 60 minuets.
