November 2012

A kaleidoscope of sun-kissed golden hues of gold and orange paint the sky and nature; pumpkins, scarecrows and dried cornstalks decorate front yards and porches; cheers of team spirit and camaraderie herald through crisp fall air at football games; cool, windy breezes and the billowing of smoke from chimneys; warm cups of cocoa or tea being grasped while snuggling under a soft blanket; the sweet smells of cinnamon, orange and cloves; and the sound of children laughing as they run and jump in piles of freshly raked leaves. All of these things and so much more remind me of the season we are in.

However, along with these reminders comes a stronger, all-encompassing feeling of thankfulness and gratitude for everything I have in my life. Whether it be my family, my friends, my health or my job, I have always looked upon this season as a time to sit back, take a deep breath, and just acknowledge the blessings I have been given.

It was around this same time last year that we at DERMASCOPE Magazine began to look at who we are and what we stand for. Throughout the years, we have made it abundantly clear that our number one focus is to improve the aesthetic industry through the empowerment of the skin care professional. Our goal has always been to provide our readers with the most current and relevant information available in the industry; thereby assisting the aesthetics professional in gaining a true understanding of our profession, our customers and our potential. For over 40 years, through the loyalty and devotion of our readers and contributors we have succeeded in our goal and for that we are extremely grateful!

"No one who achieves success does so without the help of others.
The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude."
~Alfred North Whitehead

As a way to show our gratitude, we decided it was time for us to give back. In this ever changing world, it is more imperative than ever to keep up with the technological advances of today and those of tomorrow. Unlike the times of the past, when someone would go to the library to research a topic or open a phone book to find a company, people now look towards the Internet for the answers to their questions. With that thought in mind, we knew that we needed to not only continue distributing pertinent information to our readers through our monthly publication, but we also needed to provide an online resource to enhance our print publication – while also establishing a centralized location to accommodate a plethora of information our supporters could access through the simple push of a button. These two basic (yet fundamental) goals lead to the concept of establishing a community and a new, improved design for DERMASCOPE.com.
Since the re-launch of DERMASCOPE.com, our website has seen a tremendous increase in traffic with an expansion in both new and return visitors. A statement that is backed by current reports highlighting an increase of visits to 100.87% within the first 31 days, and staggering numbers indicating that overall pageviews are up by 129.34%. Our skin care articles and our Products Guide pages are the areas within the site receiving the most traffic, but other sections are gaining momentum. In general, people are staying longer and viewing more pages than ever before.
I entreat you to visit DERMASCOPE.com. Check out everything we have to offer, create a profile, write a blog, post a question in a forum, answer our latest Closing Thoughts survey, or browse through our articles. Let us know what you like and what you would like for us to add; after all, we redesigned this site with you in mind. It is our way of saying thank you for your years of loyalty, devotion
and support.
