42 | married | two kids | aesthetician/nail tech | Columbus, GA
When I am not seeing clients… I am reading DERMASCOPE Magazine to stay on top of my field and for my CEU’s. I find lots of valuable information in every issue. I find myself updating both my co-workers and clients on the latest trends. It makes for
great conversations.
Dreaming of… owning my own retreat and spa facility. I continually visit and research other spas when I travel. I get some of my spa destinations from DERMASCOPE Magazine. I find visiting other spas and wellness centers is a great way to learn. I usually pick up a new technique or two that I can apply in my own modalities.
If I were not an aesthetician… I would still be an accountant with a lot of stress and less time with my family. Being an aesthetician allows me flexibility with my time so this career works for me and my family. I find it to be a stress-free career. I enjoy pampering other people. If I can get my client to relax, de-stress, or even change their mood, I feel I have done my job. I strive to give my clients the best treatment they have ever had.
Best skin care tip… is to wash your face day and night and use mineral makeup.
My home… is very tranquil and earthy. It is set on a lake with gold fish ponds and water fountains. The master bathroom has a spa-like atmosphere. We have made our home a retreat not just for us, but for our family
and friends.
Favorite fall trend… is to give a client a microdermabraision with a
PCA peel.
Obsession… besides trying to look young forever would be shoes because it can change your outfit, mood, and your over all persona.
The best thing about turning 40… is still looking like I am in my early 30s.
Guilty pleasure… is having a bowl of ice cream before bed.
Most memorable celebrity encounter/experience… when I gave Heidi Klume and Denise Rich manicures when they were visiting Aspen, Colorado prior to their filming or event.
My favorite Super Hero is… Wonder Woman because there is nothing she cannot do and she always
helps people.
My aesthetics mentor is… anyone I can learn from. I always pick the
brains of other aestheticians, dermatologist, plastic surgeons, as well as
massage therapists.
Words of wisdom… is to make time for yourself, be true to yourself, and as much as you give aesthetic services – it is important to get them as well.
My favorite book is… “Where Are You Vodka It’s Chelsea” and “My Horizontal Life” by Chelsea Handler. Well it is the last two books I read anyway and they were both hysterical. I love to laugh and she had me laughing until my gut hurt. Laughing is good for the soul.
