What is your #1 rule as an aesthetician?

Written by

“Healthy skin is something people want to have. To have healthy skin one must have a great routine. So, my number one rule is to be consistent with that daily routine and of course, use products appropriate for your skin type and skin condition.”
~ Keisha Baker

aesthetician“Dress the part! If you want people to regard you professionally, dress so!”
~ Devon Christian

“I’d say educating my clients, education is the first step to understanding why a regimen is going to work for them.”
~ Beth Brasher

“What you do at home every day is just as important … I love the results I am able to help my patients obtain with my in office chemical peels, microdermabrasion, et cetera. [but] I truly believe the correct use of quality products can be just as beneficial. The top two products you should never be without in my opinion are SPF 35, and above daily, and Tretinoin nightly. Even a small amount of unprotected exposure from an office or car window can be harmful. When people ask me what the miracle product is I always tell them sunscreen.”
~ Glennda Lane

“My best has been making my clients feel important and their concerns matter.”
~ Cyndi Yates

“Relaxation and education of the client!”
~ Kelley Rasch

“Listen and trust, as it establishes a foundation to an individual’s need and goal. Ultimately a net of communication, knowledge and educating about the health of skin and beauty creates an outstanding relationship, which is primarily the achievement for both client and aesthetician’s goal. The rest is results.”
~ Amber Delannoy

“Understand skin physiology!”
~ Brenda Caruthers

“Prevention is easier than correction. Respecting the integrity of your skin is always a must. The individuality of your facials and how to treat certain skin conditions must be done with respect. I love changing how my clients feel about their skin. I specialize in chemical peels, so it is very important for my clients to feel great with the results and feel great about their experience. When they see the difference in their skin and trust in me, it reinforces at home care.”
~ Monserrate Caballero-Castillo

“As a habit, keep your room, your equipment and yourself spotlessly clean.”
~ Gaye Weinman

“Be personable, yet professional and knowledgeable, in a professional environment.”
~ Ruby Bickems Powell

“My number one rule is to educate my clients about their skin. I make it a point to impart some of my skin care knowledge to my clients in every treatment. Clients depend on us as their aestheticians to know the latest and greatest in the skin care industry. They trust us to give them the most informed answers to their questions. I try to let them know the facts about what is out there and I give them the tools to research for themselves as well. It helps me to build trust with my clients, which leads to lasting professional relationships and a successful skin care practice.”
~ Patricia Martorana
