Round 1: Visualizing Victory

Written by Delilah Matos

Visualizing success can easily be viewed with skepticism. However, keep in mind that for generations, it has been a common practice among athletes, entertainers, and entrepreneurs. Many have been using visualization as a way to reach their goals. As a successful skin care entrepreneur, these same principles are no different. To tackle round one towards the first steps of success, professionals must visualize victory.
In thinking about building any business or achieving any personal goal, visualization can often be a key factor in overcoming certain barriers within your own mind. You truly are your only competition. A positive mindset that incorporates strong visualization helps to not only set short-term, realistic goals, it also helps keep the prize in mind.
It keeps objectives for accomplishing the ultimate goal in focus. Remember, although your accomplishment is on its way, there are many steps necessary to make it a reality. Be grounded, confident, patient, and sensible during the process.
Be fair to yourself. The excitement of achieving what you visualize can be great. But, give yourself time to go about it in the appropriate way. At the time, do not procrastinate.
To begin, visualize the end result – the victory you’re aiming for. It may sound odd, but start at the end of the desired goal and work towards the beginning.
Remember that you can’t just dream. You have to do the work to make your dream happen. Set reminders every day of what your true goals are. This will help you focus more on the things that need to be achieved. When you know what you’re looking for, your brain becomes more programmed and will be more receptive to possible opportunities that are aligned with your goal.
Visualize both short-term and long-term goals. For instance, creating vision boards and placing them in prominent places is powerful. Hang them in a place where they can be seen and study them on a daily basis. If vision boards are not really your thing, writing your goals down in a journal can have the same effect
Start to condition your mind. Rather than creating larger-than-life objectives in your mind – which can feel overwhelming – simply envision victory.
Effective visualization is also rehearsing the processes of success. That means handling mistakes, unexpected interruptions, or malfunctions.
By focusing on actionable tasks, you can accomplish several things. First, you eliminate self-defeating thoughts, as the goal is realistic and feels obtainable. You also reinforce positive behavior and obtain the motivation to act immediately, crushing procrastination and getting right into action.
Successful athletes envision themselves winning in their sport. Coaches draw pictures of projected plays on whiteboards. All week long, professional athletes work with each other and their coaches to visualize and coordinate the perfect moves, blocks, and combinations.
It is important to remember that visualization is like a muscle. With more practice comes better results. Visualization programs the mind to achieve the desired result. In other words, when you see yourself succeeding, you fuel your mind’s desire to reach success and, as a result, you become motivated to work on your plans and win.
