Enriching Enhancements: Incorporating Add-Ons into a Facial Experience

Written by Heidi Smith

As the summer months are coming to an end, skin can be left feeling tired and dry from the heat. Facials can be a great way to rejuvenate and revitalize skin. The best way to help a client feel refreshed, hydrated, and relaxed is to include a variety of pampering enhancements to compliment and customize the facial experience.

Here are a few of my favorite add-ons that might be the perfect addition to a facial lineup.

A mask treatment can be applied to the face to help improve cell turnover for a radiant complexion. A mask that locks in hydration and helps to amplify active peptides and antioxidants is a great add-on. Following the treatment, skin is left hydrated, plump, and even more radiant. You can also choose a mask targeted to help reduce wrinkles and fine lines. Adding a face mask adds no additional time to a facial, making it an easy addition to your facial routines and line of services.

The décolleté area of the body is often overlooked. Treating this area can serve as a perfect extension of the facial experience. As the skin is typically much thinner and features fewer oil glands, it is often more vulnerable to signs of aging, irritation, and skin damage. A mask can be used on the décolleté area to help rejuvenate the entire face, making it a great add-on for all clients.

Eyelash and eyebrow tinting are popular additions to facial treatments and leave clients feeling radiant and beautiful. Eyelash and eyebrow products are a great option, as they can dramatically transform daily eyelash and eyebrow routines and instantly add definition to the eyes. These products can help eyelashes appear fuller and longer. Eyelash tinting typically adds 30 minutes to facial treatments and eyebrow tinting typically adds 15 minutes.

Another great enhancement is a firming treatment for the lips and eyes. There are several skin care products that help to tone and tighten the skin around the eyes or lips to prevent signs of aging. In addition, these treatments will typically not add any additional time to the facial and can be done at the same time, making it a seamless experience for clients.

Creating an add-on treatment for the hands is a great way to add variety to a lineup of services. The hands are just as important as the face and are a prominent part of the body for visible aging. A hand treatment that includes a mask and a hand serum formulated to smooth skin texture and help build collagen to promote elasticity can be a great add-on.

Deep cleansing devices are perfect for enhancing facials at your spa. Not only do they provide a deeper cleanse and enhanced antiaging experience, they also help to promote healthy and glowing skin.

It can be a good idea to include treatment options that are beneficial for the climate in your hometown. For instance, a spa located in a warm and sunny area might consider offering sun-friendly facials and an application of sunscreen to finish every facial.

Professionals should always be excited to help clients achieve results that make them feel confident in their own skin. The addition of facial enhancements or add-ons can help to amplify a client’s experience and leave them with a radiant and hydrated complexion.
