Is there a particular ingredient that you feel is a "super" ingredient?
Without a doubt, fulvic acid, the scientifically proven number one anti-aging powerhouse for all skin types. When I learned about the incredible properties of fulvic acid emerging in the health industry, I knew that I had to bring this powerful ingredient to skin care. The benefits of fulvic acid includes balanced hydration in the skin, wrinkle reduction, and reduced inflammation to name a few. It is my first choice in combating
almost any skin condition.

Other than your products, what are the greatest assets and strengths your company offers?
Our clients know when they call, a qualified master aesthetician is available to help them with their aesthetic needs. Our business coordinators are provided continued training on products and skin protocols to educate our clientele to build their business goals. With GlyMed Plus, our clients can be assured that they are receiving the best possible information and treatment recommendations to generate profit. By providing superior aesthetic education and professional-only formulations, our commitment to the aesthetician is number one.

As you grew your company, did you have any significant moments of clarity that helped shape its future and course?pic-1
My moment of clarity began early in my career while I was dealing with my own skin and then I started working with burn patients and individuals who suffered from traumatized skin. With my own study and experimentation, I cleared up my own acne. Armed with a new confidence, I worked with hospitals in San Francisco and Salt Lake City. I knew I could improve lives and had to do something more for these patients with severe skin conditions. Alleviating and minimizing the trauma for these special people has been my goal ever since.

How did you come up with the name of your business?
GlyMed Plus has an interesting heritage. The "Gly" is derived from the active ingredient glycolic acid and its scientific discovery and efficacious results. Alpha hydroxy acids were the main ingredients in our very first product, Gentle Facial Wash, and have been utilized in many of GlyMed Plus' subsequent formulas. The "Med" comes from the medical community where I first gained my passion for helping others change their skin and their lives. The "Plus" includes new generations of formulations expanding beyond the medical and aesthetic industry for the future.

Do you or your company support any particular causes or charitable organizations? If so, who and why?
I will do anything to help an animal or to help the underprivileged or to help someone who is sick. I care about those that society just kind of looks past. It is the people that are important to me. I support many charities and causes, including Animal Rescue, The Elton John AIDS Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, and Marie's Gift in honor of my courageous and loving aunt who passed of breast cancer. I also support the Alzheimer's Association. My father suffered from Alzheimer's disease, and I helplessly watched as he deteriorated. Nobody should ever have to suffer the debilitating effects of Alzheimer's disease.

logoWhich honor or achievement are you most proud of?
Receiving the coveted Crystal Award and being honored as an aesthetic Legend and aesthetic industry leader is one of my proudest moments, because this recognition came from my peers. What an honor! Professional recognition for the years of dedication to the skin care industry is truly humbling.

What advice do you have for someone planning to start a career in this field?
Have a passion and a love for what you do. Continue to learn new techniques and use the best products available for your clients. The aesthetics industry is all about the drive and desire to help people feel good about themselves.

You wear so many hats in this industry. What is your secret to keeping life in balance and enjoying the journey?
If I really stop to think of all of the things that I have to do and accomplish, it can become overwhelming. I just do what I have to do and I never give up.

Can you share something that most people wouldn't know about you?
This has never been a secret but I have a deep love for animals. I share my life and home with a variety of animals, many of whom are rescued. I have six cute and lovable French bulldogs, four beautiful horses, four goats, and a rescued pig named Penelope. I care for them every day. They provide a sense of balance and love. There is just nothing better than that.

If you could treat one person, who would it be?
Robert Redford. His skin is so weathered and aged, I could improve its' look and state of health. Unfortunately, Mr. Redford does not read DERMASCOPE.
