Hostile environment sexual harassmentoccurs when unwelcome sexual conduct unreasonably interferes with an individual’s job performance or creates a hostile, intimidating, or offensive work environment even though the harassment may not result in tangible or economic job consequences, that is, the person may not lose pay or a promotion; employers, supervisors, coworkers, customers, or clients can create a hostile work environment

Human Growth FactorA naturally occurring family of complex hormones that are produced by the body to regulate cell growth and division in skin, blood, bone, and nerve tissue. They also can influence the growth rate of some cancers. HGFs are also synthesized and used in medicine for a range of applications, including wound healing and immune system stimulation.
 
HumectantA substance that promotes retention of moisture
 
HyaluronicHydrophilic agent with excellent water-binding properties
 
HydrocarbonAny compound composed only of hydrogen and carbon
 
HydrocortisoneThe hormone produced by the adrenals that can also be created synthetically. It has potent anti-inflammatory properties for skin, but prolonged use can destroy collagen in the skin and cause skin fragility
 
Hydrophilic“water loving” Hydrophilic compounds dissolve easily in water, and are usually polar, which means they and have a positive or negative charge
 
Hydrophobic“water fearing”-Hydrophobic compounds do not dissolve easily in water, and are usually non polar. Oils are hydrophobic in their chemical makeup

HypertrophicA nontumorous enlargement of an organ or a tissue
 
HypoallergenicTerm used by the cosmetics industry to lead consumers to believe they are using a product that will not cause them to have an allergic or sensitizing skin reaction to a product. However, the word "hypoallergenic" is not regulated in any manner by the FDA and it is therefore used indiscriminately by cosmetics companies without any substantiation or need to show proof of the claim
 
HyponychiumThe area between the nail plate and the fingertip. It is the junction between the free edge of the nail and the skin of the fingertip, also providing a waterproof barrier.
 
HypopigmentationA condition caused by a deficiency in melanin formation or a loss of pre-existing melanin
 
HypothalamusThe part of the brain that regulates metabolic processes and regulates body temperature, emotions, hunger sensations, etc.  The hypothalamus strongly influences the pituitary gland.
